I'm very much ready for this heat wave to end. It's September now and I have two dozen sweaters I want to start wearing again. Okay, I only have four sweaters, but dammit, I need cooling airs immediately. You can't sleep in weather like this. Everything's all sticky and the heat bugs are clicking and screaming outside until the sun comes up.
The room this computer is in is an oven and I can't sit here for another minute. I'm going to head back to the East Wing with a refreshing icy beverage and finish Black Hawk Down, a shocking account of modern warfare . . . gripping and horrifying.
Oh, one more thing. Two new pigs have joined our ranks. Hector, named for the son of King Priam of Troy (he killed Patroclus and was killed by Achilles), and Lemon Head. His name was originally Blind Lemon Jefferson, but Lemon Head seemed to stick. The poor piggy really is blind. Pictures will come as soon as it cools off around here. Handling a hot furry animal is not at all appealing at the moment.
